Being together

Technology has changed a lot in our lives. The way we live, the way we communicate and the way we celebrate and enjoy together. I remember my childhood days where we spent most of the times playing outside with a lot of friends. Today, the children spend most of their time playing in ipads and smart phones. They don’t understand the meaning of being together.
Even as adults, we don’t spend much time with friends and families. I have experienced it so many times with my gang of friends. We will go out for lunch or dinner and after 10, 15 minutes of talking with each other, everyone will take their smart phones out and start texting someone else or check their facebook and instagram accounts. There is no quality time being spent by anyone nowadays. Very rarely people detach themselves from the smart phones and internet and spend time with fellow human beings.
Though there are a lot of advantages of the smart phones and internet, there is equal amount of disadvantages. We cant imagine living a day in our lives without internet or google, the same internet detaches us from our close friends, family and colleagues. A lot of activities are being undertaken by a lot of companies and they all aim to develop the sense of belonging and live a day without technology.
Another end of this spectrum is the damage we cause to ourselves and future generations with the use of technology. We not only destroy the relationships and the feeling of belongingness and togetherness, we have also started destroying the nature around us. Preserving nature and our surroundings is one way to actually be together and do good for the society and us.
Planting trees in the society, cleaning the garbage from the street or locality you live in achieves both the objectives of being together, teamwork and also protect and save the environment. Nature has provided us all with abundant resources. The slightest gratitude we can show towards nature is by protecting our environment.
If we try to achieve this alone, the probability of achieving and attaining success is very less. A collective mind is always better than an individual one. This collective thinking is what made the human race as it is today. This is the only reason we are better than the animals and other organisms. We have to utilise this ability we have and use it for a greater good. With the use of technology, we can be together and do something together. It gives us a sense of responsibility and satisfaction that one cannot achieve with the use of smartphones and trying to make a change in the world. Being together is good for us and also for the world! Embrace the freedom of being together!

A life with the fastest network ever, Airtel 4G

Recently I wanted to buy a wifi connection in my home. I asked everyone around. The standard response I received was Airtel. Then I bought Airtel. The fastest network available then was airtel 3G. It was unbelievably fast with the 3G network. Before Airtel, I did have other so-called 3G networks, but not as fast as airtel. If I had to download movies, I had to wait the entire night for the download to complete. Sometimes, I download the movies. Most of the times, I would ask my friends to download it for me. Especially, when there are multiple movies to be downloaded.
Then comes the videos on YouTube. Every time I open facebook, there is some video or the other that someone has shared. Most of the times, they are just boring stuff. But sometimes, the videos would be extremely interesting and I would want to see. But the streaming would kill me. It will take ages to load and I will forget what I wanted to see. There were many instances when I just sat staring at my mobile screen, hoping the youtube video would stream and I could watch. It would only eat up my time and I would end up doing nothing. Just the time wasted.
Now with the Airtel 4G I can watch all the youtube videos I want and I don’t have to wait at all for the streaming. I can start play and it would be buffered! That’s the best thing one can have. No time wasted, no need to wait for the buffering to complete. And I can download any number of movies at high speed.
The next thing I want high speed internet for is that i suddenly remember something from somewhere and I want to know what is it, then and there. Because my memory is so great that If I don’t see it the moment I am reminded of it, I will forget. It will come to my mind after a long time and I wouldn’t remember why I wanted to know that thing for. With Airtel 4G, I can browse anything at anytime. I don’t have to wait to get back home to the wifi for better internet speed.
Because I have a faster internet in my mobile, I can use the hotspot to connect to the laptop when I am outside home and need to use the laptop for some work. With the smart phone, we have the world in our palms. But that is truly made possible with the fast internet. Without an internet which is fast enough as our thoughts, we would never really have the world in our fingertips. Everything goes viral in a matter of minutes. Airtel 4G, the fastest network would definitely help me live my life better and faster.

My Airtel App - The one ‘must-have’ App for every Airtel user

The new My airtel app is a necessity for everyone who has an airtel product. Especially when airtel has such wide variety of products like Broadband, DTH and prepaid/postpaid connections. Nowadays all the transactions are happening through mobile. Mobiles phones are like our third hand. We just can’t live without them. Most of the times, we download lot of apps on our phones, but rarely open any of them. But, this airtel app has changed the experience of using the airtel products and also the way we use the apps on our phones.
I have a DTH, a broadband with a fixed line connection at home. Every time I have to check the usage or recharge my DTH, or pay the postpaid bill for the broadband/fixed line, I have to go to airtel website and pay the bill. Most of the times, I would forget to pay the bill or would be unaware when the DTH has to be recharged, and will have a difficult time. Especially when I have to pay the bill online. There was a time, when all of us were happy with the online payment. We did not have to go stand in the queues to pay. Now, the time has changed us so much that we are lazy to open the website to pay the bills. With multiple bills, we have to remember all the bill amounts. We have to keep the mails with bill summary safe to pay the bill at the later stage.
All these changed when I downloaded the My Airtel App. I now have everything at my fingertips. I no longer have to save the emails. The feature of the Airtel app I like the most is that it keeps all the bills at one place. I don’t have to log on to multiple sites. With just entering my mobile number, I could access all the airtel devices at one place. All the devices are displayed when the app is opened. When I click on the device I want, I can view the bill summary, usage details and the status of the requests/complaints if any. This organization helps me manage my airtel bills easy.
The second feature I like in the airtel app is that, I can add my most favorite action in the ‘I want to’ section. And I can add other products of airtel in the same location. Most of the times, one person ends up paying the bills of others. To make the bill payment experience easy, airtel has introduced this add product section. I can add the airtel mobile numbers of my family and can pay the bills easily. Everything is organized at one place. I don’t have to waste my time going through all the mails to get the exact bill to pay.
The most important thing in the My Airtel App is that it is extremely user friendly. I just have to enter my mobile number, and there the app collects all the devices registered with this mobile number. And the overall experience with the app is very good and user friendly. It has become a ‘must-have’ app.

3 things that “ek nayi league” can turn out to be

KAPIL DEV has come up with a new set of videos in which he is advising various celebrities not to play ‘this’ game with heart because if they do so they will certainly be out hit wicket. Now question arise what is this particular thing that KAPIL DEV is talking about. Here is what I think are the 3 things this “ek nayi league” can turn out to be.
1. A quiz show-  Quiz shows have always been loved in Indian television especially if there is some celebrity conducting it. From Bournvita Quiz contest hosted by Derek O’Brian, ESPN school quiz hosted by Harsha Bhogle, Jeeto Chappad Phad ke hosted by Govinda, Sawaal 7 crore ka hosted by Anupam Kher,Kya aap paanchvi paas hain hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, khul ja simsim hosted by Aman Verma to our very favourite Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by Amitabh Bacchan, quiz shows have always been a special event on national TV. Bring some new concept, a popular host and a lot of prize money and voila!! a new  and popular quiz show is ready.
Since we have KAPIL DEV as host so it possible that this show might be a sports related quiz show. But you never know it can turn out to be a bollywood quiz or a history quiz. Life is unpredictable you see !!
2. A reality show on Star-  Yes ! this campaign may very well turn out to be a reality show like a big boss on star. Star is known for such creative campaigns and they can very well come up with a reality show. But the catch is KAPIL DEV always telling- don’t play this game with your heart, play it with your mind. So the question arise, if it is going to be a reality show like big boss, why do contestants need brain any way. At least I have not seen a lot of brain work in shows like this.
3. A cricket show-  Isn’t this choice the most obvious one? You see KAPIL DEV and you say- hey ! its got to be a cricket based show. And many a times the obvious answers are the right answers. So it can definitely be a cricket based show. Based on the current trends I think it can be something related to fantasy league where in each participants will have to pick a team of their own based on certain restrictions and constraints on virtual money cost of each player, team composition etc. Fantasy leagues are very popular during IPL  and a fantasy league program on TV is certainly an idea worth trying. The earliest such example was Super selector which was very famous. So who knows this “ek nayi league” might be a revival of old super selector.

Towards a new future

When we think about our childhood and compare it with today’s children, we will realise how different it is. Now, to think about it, I wonder how I really spent my childhood. There was no mobile phones, no laptop, no iPad, and especially there was no internet. I remember my grandfather writing inland letters to his daughters in Delhi and Mumbai from a small town. Once a week, they will talk to each other on the fixed line phones.
As a child, I would sit next to my grandfather writing letters and I will wait for him to finish to add a line or two in the end. And I would spend most of my time playing with the other kids on the roads and sometimes watching cartoon in TV. The kids of today are too busy teaching gadgets and technology to their parents who are from a different world. Though they rarely go out and play with other kids of their age, they do virtual gaming. It may sound very different to us, but the world has changed. Has it changed for good is a question to ponder.
With every technological advance, there are pros and cons. The world of internet has brought in a lot of perks. Earlier, if we move from one city to another, we are certain that we will never be able to meet our friends. And we will hope that someday in the future, we will be able to meet. But now, the world isn’t the same. Even if we move every now and then, we are connected through the internet. We are in touch with each and every person we know. Even if we rarely talk with each other, we know what is happening in their life. It gives us a satisfaction of knows what our peers are up to and how their lives have turned out.
This gives us immense power to not only stay in touch but conduct our businesses and lives through the social media. Though there is a fear of invasion of privacy by hackers, we enjoy the world we are in today. It is so much different from what it was fifty years ago. What it will be fifty years from now is something to think about. The technology has given us so much now, what it could provide us in the future gives me hope.

There will be cure for all the so called incurable diseases now. Who knows we will even go live in Mars. The human population will take a giant leap in the way we live, if mankind settles in Mars. All these makes me optimistic about the world we will leave behind. Though we are spoiling our current planet by a lot of things, we have an option that will provide a much better environment to live.

An inevitable change in every one’s life

We would be so comfortable in everything we do and the things around us. Yet, there would be times when we have to deal with the changes in our lives. These changes could be anything, a new job, a new place to live, or even getting married. Marriage is the start of a new life for a girl. She has to leave her family behind and go live with a guy. It’s not just living with some person, marriage also brings in a lot of responsibility. The freedom the girl had living with her parents is sort of missing when she is married.
We can argue that the husband and his family is super cool and they don’t refrain her from doing all crazy stuff she has been doing. But deep down, as a girl, you will realise that a marriage changes a lot. You can still do everything you have been doing, but you have an added responsibility of a family. For a girl, marriage means a new life. She would enter the stage of motherhood. Both physically and psychologically the changes affect the girl. Most of us are excited about the new prospects. While some are wary and do not want to get married at all.
The change is more apparent if it is an arranged marriage. For a love marriage, the girl knows the guy, he knows the girl. They have been together for quite some time to know each other’s peculiarities. And they are compatible enough to wanting to get married and spend the rest of their lives together. In that case, the girl only has to get used to the new family. But in an arranged marriage, the girl and the guy have no clue about what the other person is going to be. It is both scary and exciting. Exciting because you will get to know a new person and the prospect of living together gives a different feeling. And scary because what if he turns out to be not so good a guy and all the responsibilities one has to go through after the marriage.
In our country, arranged marriages are more prevalent than the love marriages. Even the arranged marriages has seen a lot of change. Earlier, during our parents’ time, they just see the girl or the guy once and their parents would fix everything. But now, the young adults are more dominating and demanding and we need to have the power to decide who we want and who we don’t. Now it is not just a process that everyone has to go through out of societal pressure. It has transformed into a journey in itself. The prospective bride and groom meet and talk with each other. They try to understand themselves and they fall in love.

This change is inevitable in every one’s life. It will be better if we like the journey and live it, rather than sulking over what is not and what it might have been.

Peas, the tiny green pods are low in fat and rich in protein, iron, folate, fibres and phosphorus. Dont worry. Even the frozen peas dont lose their nutritional value. If you dont find fresh peas, use frozen ones for this awesome soup.

  2. Cook the shallots until soft and translucent, for 3 minutes.
  3. Pour the water and peas and let it boil.
  4. Add salt and pepper.
  5. Boil the contents in medium-high heat and reduce to low.
  6. Keep the lid closed and let it simmer for 12 to 18 minutes until the peas become tender.
  7. Puree the peas in a blender in batches.
